Joy

This week we will be sharing verses on JOY. I’ve thought a lot about this topic… what brings us joy?? I know I have joy when my precious children hug me and tell me they love me. I know I have joy when I finally accomplish something I’ve been pouring myself into for weeks, or even months.

What brings you joy?? Stop and really think about it!

What happens when our children are in foul moods and “I love you” isn’t being said? What happens when we fail at something we really wanted to succeed at?

Habakkuk 3:17-18 really lays the answer out for us:

“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”

Our joy should come from God -- NOT our circumstances. Should we be joyful in those moments with our kids, or in the completion of a project? Absolutely. But we need to be finding joy in our Savior above all else, so that we’re not riding the emotional roller coaster of our circumstances.
